We’re looking for an experienced QA Engineer who’ll be responsible for the quality of our wide range of apps and services on Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, responsive web, and soon Linux and routers.

Background about this position

Our current testing process works like this:

1. server-side logic is tested exclusively with automation

2. web browser rendering is tested manually with browserstack.com and some VMs, cases executed by an outsourced test team

3. client-side apps are tested with a combination of unit and manual tests. We’re investing to shift that balance more towards automation.

We’re looking to hire this position to drastically increase the efficiency of our test processes. Raise the quality bar while reducing the total test time.

Responsibilities

1. Create test plans. Partner with the development teams to clearly define responsibilities for automated vs manual tests. Define a burndown of work to maximize automated test coverage. Your goal is to ensure our desired level of quality with minimal testing time.

2. Write manual test cases, and create a process for keeping them updated throughout the product lifecycle.

3. Manage a team of outsourced testers working remotely who can execute manual test cases and possibly write or edit cases under your supervision.

4. Perform smoke-tests

5. Design and develop test tools (ie: simulators, sinks, configuration frameworks) using a language of your choice in collaboration with dev teams

6. Perform non-functional testing (load/performance, crash tests)

7. Manage various staging environments for our server-side products

8. Maintain some of our build and continuous integration environments

Required skills

1. Fluent in at least one programming language

2. Expert in at least one UI automation framework

3. Deep understanding of software testing principles for both client-side and server-side code

4. Experience using test management tools

5. Excited to learn new technologies. We use Ruby, C#, Go, Objective C, and Java, and you’ll probably be exposed to all of them.
