Job Description

The Buddy Reading Program empowers our volunteers (aged 6 or above) to share their love of reading with children from low income families from various community centers,  schools and learning centers in different local communities.

Buddy reading helps the children from low income families to develop a love of reading English story books and is part of the literacy program developed by Kids4Kids’ unique matching and sharing ecosystem.  By reaching out to these kids, our volunteers also give themselves an opportunity to learn about others – giving back, taking actions and equipping themselves with new social, leadership, presentation skills and bridging the literacy divide. Volunteers from corporations, student organisations and different schools come to join us on weekends to serve others in need.  This position can be full time or part time depending on candidate.

Job Description

  • To conduct the BR Induction training for new volunteers at school club sites, in the K4K office and Garage Society, on weekdays and weekends (twice a month).
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners.
  • Identify and coordinate new BR sites with existing and new community partners.
  • To develop a set of BR standards and guidelines for BR volunteers and leaders.
  • Supervise the BR sites adopted by schools clubs for weekdays and Saturday reading sessions to ensure they are carried out professionally to BR standards and guidelines.
  • Manage and provide support to BR Leaders
  • Manage and input survey data on a weekly basis
  • Monitoring and evaluation of BRP for existing and potential funders of BRP
  • To lead the BRP Planning Committee and sure that the BRP key performance indicators are consistency met and the BRP is continually improving with a regular feedback mechanism

Salary will depend on experience of candidate. Please send your CV and expected salary to Danielle@kids4kids.org.hk

Company Info

Kids4Kids is actively looking for innovative, forward-thinking social impact talent who are passionate about serving the community to join our thriving team. With the backing of over a decade’s service in the Hong Kong community, we have an exciting strategic vision and projects designed for the future, programs that serve the community well, and we welcome you to come and gear up for the future with our dynamic team.

Our founding motto is: "You are never too young to change the world."

Here at Kids4Kids, empowering youth to innovate is at the core of our DNA. Founded in 2010, the Kids4Kids team delivers 6 specially designed programs to over 300 schools in Hong Kong, empowering 22,000 kids and teenagers aged 6-18, with developmental journeys for primary school and secondary school students: creativity & literacy, and community & impact entrepreneurship.

With respected, inclusive, and equitable quality education programs branching from promoting the love of reading, nurturing budding writers and illustrators toward their own publication in an annual competition in the creativity and literacy journey, to youths discovering their strengths and purpose via serving the community, learning the entrepreneurial mindset, design thinking, and transferable skill sets from our youth impact journey, taking part in peer support forums such as career fireside chats with corporates and founders and mentorship workshops, where teenagers can freely seek career advice and learn holistic life skills from young professionals and industry leaders, the highlight of the year being our annual Youth Summit and Young Entrepreneurs launchpad where teams work together to win seed funding and industry mentorship through their community impact projects. This launchpad has been the nurturing ground for many successful and viable impact ventures since the launch.

Year after year, cohorts after cohorts of students graduate from the Kids4Kids launchpad having become a stronger, more confident person, ready to build their own journey and realise their dreams, finding their voice and their place in the world. We are proud to support their journey and their growth. Our alumni and current cohorts are encouraged to provide much needed peer support to each other and through our youth network they venture into the world, knowing that they are accompanied, well equipped, and prepared for the future.

Team Culture

The Kids4Kids team prides itself on being a dynamic, forward-thinking team, always delivering learner-centric learning and inspiring curiosity in kids, empowering them with self-motivated learning skills that they can benefit from over their whole lives.

Our team acts as the pioneers at the forefront of education, technology, and kids’ and teenagers’ wellbeing, with a service focus on lower resourced kids, teenagers, and communities. We navigate research and best-in-class tools to ensure the most inclusive and impactful learning and skills, while always taking care of those working with the lowest denominator of resources, ensuring an equitable ecosystem for capacity building and support to kids, teenagers, and families in Hong Kong.

With a service target of helping over 80% of the top 10 poorest districts in Hong Kong, we bring well-researched and well-supported quality programs, much needed resources, and dedicated and well-trained volunteers and staff from different social and business communities to serve these lower resourced families, schools, and communities, to bring hope and practical, transferable job skills to those most in need, empowering them to build a better future for tomorrow.

For we truly believe, in each of our team member, that we are “never too young to change the world”. Come join us, and help us effect positive impact in the community.
