(Contract period: 6 months)

The successful candidate is responsible for supporting the development of resources for HFH Hong Kong and for spreading the good news of Habitat's work in Hong Kong in a consistent, coherent and timely manner to both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities:

1. Publications and Promotional Materials:
   
   • Direct the production and compilation of contributions from the Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong for submissions to internal and external publications; write material as required;
   • Take the lead in creating publications and other products in response to needs identified by the Communications team and the program departments;
   • Work with Asia Pacific Office to ensure clarity, coherency and consistency in all published pieces;

2. Media Relations:
   

   • Enhance the recognition of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong through publicity campaigns, media events and resource-development and awareness-elevating tools;
   • Work with the Marketing and Communications team to tailor make information for the media;

3. Resource to Management Team:
   

   • Advise and support the Management team and Resource Development team in the creation of tools to enhance Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong’s Corporate Identity and Institutional Image;
   • Promote, strengthen and safeguard the corporate identity of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong in adherence to the overall strategy set and directed by the Chief Executive Officer;
   • Advise and instruct Hong Kong Office in developing local communications products and communications strategies with the objective of building communications capacity;
   • Advising on communications and promotional strategies and contributing to other strategic decisions;

4. Management of the Marketing and Communications Team:
   

   • Ensure that all communications products, for both internal and external markets, are professionally edited and presented;
5. Manage and leverage on online tools to promote projects, resource and development needs of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong:
   
   • Work with the program, resource and development team, and the Asia Pacific Office to create stories suitable for online use;
   • Maintain and update the website on a regular and timely basis;
   • Leverage on social media tools including but not limited to our official website, Facebook and Twitter to promote the value and projects of Habitat for Humanity Hong Kong.

6. Undertake any other legitimate duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• At least 4 years working experience in a similar position;
• Minimum 2 years project and staff management experience;
• Degree in journalism, communications or similar;
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and written skills in English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua);
• Strong fact gathering, writing, editing and graphic presentation skills;
• Knowledge of and ability to work with local and international news media;
• Relevant experience in web-based communications, an added advantage;
• Demonstrated ability to produce quality written work under tight deadlines;
• Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in high-pressure situations;
• Ability to train others in media/marketing skills;
• Understanding of the creative process and team building.
