Job Description
BASIC PURPOSE:
As part of a geographically diverse team, responsible for establishing and maintaining contractual relationships with subcustodian and cash agent banks servicing State Street's cash and securities services requirements, monitoring the relationships to ensure the highest level of service is provided, evaluating risk, conducting due diligence visits, resolving conflicts, developing first hand knowledge of each market's structure, settlement and safekeeping systems, and managing specific market and client requests.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages and coordinates the success of regional Agent Bank Relationship Team members. Manage and develop staff while maintaining organizational understanding and reducing State Street risk where possible with a team-oriented approach.
- Responsible for individual and group's service to operational units and clients, including facilitating and communicating market requirements, explaining risk and possible ways to mitigate.
- Manages the agent bank relationship for a select group of markets.
-Responsible for establishing and maintaining a contractual relationship with each agent bank
-Monitor performance and compliance with operating requirements
-Monitor agent bank compliance with market requirements and regulatory mandates
-Negotiate fees for agent bank services
-Maintain knowledge of competitive prices in market considering market changes and competition
-Conduct on-site due diligence exercise (international travel required)
- Responsible for servicing operational units including facilitating and communicating market requirements and changes while providing extensive technical and operational knowledge of markets under management, and communicating implications to our operations units and external clients.
- Maintain, update and qualify market requirements while evaluating market risk.
- Lobby with local participants and regulators to develop product and operational efficiencies for State Street and foreign investors.
- Work with operational and business units to further develop product and operational efficiencies for State Street and foreign investors.
- Conduct RFP and fee negotiations as needed
- Market risk evaluation/analysis
- Facilitate communications and dissemination of information associated with markets assigned to internal and external audiences of all levels.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree, MBA helpful. 7+ years global custody operations and client service or related experience.
Ability to speak English is required. Ability to speak Mandarin is preferred, but not required.
Skills/Knowledge
This role requires highly effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, presentation, and multi-tasking skills with staff, senior management, internal and external clients, and industry colleagues, as well as a rapidly increasing degree of lobbying with market regulators and industry group. The position requires a global strategic mindset with ability to prioritize issues, develop talent, set goals, influence the industry and collaborate with the broader team and business areas across the organization.
Candidates must be able to work independently and as part of a team providingsolutions and recommendations to management. High level review of work.
Requires relationship skills to ensure optimum subcustodian performance considering operational processing needs and client requests.
Requires reading comprension, presentation and listening skills. Must understand and apply compliance regulations pertaining to cash and securities services to the organization.
Must be able to work with individuals at all levels from entry level to executive management both internally and externally around the globe and understand the effect their judgment can have on clients and on State Street (such as financial impact and reputation).
Must be willing to work with geographically and culturally diverse colleagues within the team and across the organization, as well as external clients around the globe.
