Job Description

Our client, a major international removals entity, now seeks to appoint a General Manager to be based either in Hong Kong or Singapore.

Summary:
Day to day management of all aspects of Company operations, to initiate and implement growth strategy for the region.

Primary Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of day to day branch operations, liaise with shippers, contractors, agents, problem solve with responsibility for efficient, cost effective operations and overall profitability of the region.
Manage all Company staff, ensure sufficient, trained and competent staffing levels, and initiate recruiting process as required.
Manage productive working relationships with contractors, suppliers, agents, solve problems and ensure acceptable cost control.
Manage local cash flow at branch and regional level, approve expenses, source cost effective suppliers, negotiate acceptable contractor rates and freight rates.
Effectively implement new regional revenue streams.
Prepare branch/regional budgets with responsibility for meeting them.
Identify cost saving measures and implement them successfully.
Personally develop business in local market where based.
Manage regional business development.
To be fully aware of the financial position of the business unit, to initiate billing, chase receivables, approve purchases, schedule disbursements, identify accounting errors, implement accounting procedures and reconcile cash balances.

Secondary Responsibilities:
Develop freight forwarding system.
Identify new revenue streams.
Create operational capacity in select locations.
Obtain FIDI membership in one location within four years.
Strengthen selected current locations.

Qualifications:
English language education to tertiary level.

Experience:
Management experience in the moving or related logistics/relocation/expatriate service industries. Must have had profit and loss responsibility. Preference will be given to candidates with proven record of branch management and/or regional management. Sales and marketing experience essential.
