    ABOUT THE ROLE:

    Reporting to our Board of Directors, the Executive Director will ensure the impact and effectiveness of Justice Centre’s work through the following responsibilities:

    • Collaborate with the Board of Directors on impactful outreach, assistance and advocacy strategies;
    • Develop and deliver Justice Centre’s strategic plan;
    • Lead Justice Centre to achieve legal and policy reform in the areas of refugee protection and modern slavery in Hong Kong;
    • Oversee the delivery of client-centred, relevant, professional and effective services;
    • Recruit, motivate, lead and enable staff performance;
    • Promote collaboration and the personal development of all staff and volunteers;
    • Manage Justice Centre finances, including funding and administration;
    • Enhance Justice Centre’s profile as a thought leader on forced migrants’ rights in Hong Kong.

    KEY SKILLS and CANDIDATE PROFILE:

    This is an ambitious and demanding role, as we see the right candidate as someone who will be a voice for forced migrants in Hong Kong. The appointed candidate must demonstrate the following:

    • NGO Experience: Five years of experience at a senior level in an NGO or international organisation, with a track record in securing and maintaining funding, managing effective programmes and teams and achieving advocacy goals;
    • Mission-driven: In-depth knowledge of and understanding of the specific challenges facing protection claimants and survivors of modern slavery preferred;
    • Resilience: Drive and enthusiasm to generate and implement innovative ideas to achieve the organisation’s mandate;
    • Strategic thinking: Capability to think strategically and to drive ideas into action and deliver results;
    • People-centred: Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of staff, beneficiaries and stakeholders; experience working with vulnerable groups is preferable;
    • Professionalism: Ability to deliver on an ambitious mandate, maintaining the highest level of ethics;
    • Leadership: A genuine leader with proven leadership drive and the ability to motivate and influence others;
    • Communications: An authentic communicator, with the ability to connect with and influence key stakeholders including funders, partners, media and the Board of Directors;
    • Board Experience: Understanding of and experience in working effectively with Boards;
    • Education: A degree in social sciences, international development, law, management or another relevant discipline. Master’s degree preferred. Fluency in English essential.

Justice Centre Hong Kong is a non-profit organization that has been working to support refugees, asylum seekers and other forced migrants in Hong Kong since its founding in 2007.  We provide refugees, asylum seekers and other forced migrants with social welfare, psychological support and assistance with their protection claims. Since our founding, we have provided assistance to 2,000 asylum seekers and refugees.
