The primary goal of the Medical Attendant/Nurse is to meet student’s immediate treatment needs:
Responsibilities:
- reporting to the Co-Principals
- being the person in charge of the Medical Room
- responding for medical assistance at accidents, emergencies and other related incidents at school premises and school activities
- assessing the condition of the student who is injured or taken ill suddenly; deciding what action is needed and initiating treatment; monitoring the student's condition
- assessing whether and how to move injured students
- liaising with members of other emergency services (such as St. John’s Ambulance)
- dealing and communicating with staff and family members regarding health incidents and emergencies
- cleaning, decontaminating, checking, and dressing wounds
- assisting with student care while en route to hospital or health care centres
- preparing incident reports, writing up case notes, and reporting the condition and treatment of the injured student/staff
- maintaining medical supplies and equipment
- maintaining and updating health records of students
- disseminating health information to school community
- supporting the school in health education and promotion during school events
- taking a leading role (health) in school events such as Open Day and Sports Day
- preparing regular statistical reports, such as health data, medical room visits, and other useful data to monitor the school’s use of emergency and medical services
- advising principals of medical matters to be addressed in relation to student health
- organizing first aid classes to staff
Requirements :
- Nursing qualifications or a university degree in the health sciences field
- Relevant experience in health/nursing environment preferably in a school setting
- First Aid qualification and knowledge/experience of medical emergency procedures
- Bilingual in English and Chinese with excellent communication skills
- A good team player with good inter-personal skills
