    Specific Responsibilities:

    The Gilead Asia Hub team Lead position is a senior specialist with supervisory responsibility for the HR Operations personnel within the hub. The role will report in to the Associate Director HR Operations in Foster City with a dotted line responsibility to the HRBP lead for Asia based in Hong Kong. Successful candidates will have a demonstrated track record of proficient performance in conducting transactional support work regionally in Asia for a multinational company. Ideal candidates will also have experience managing small teams in tandem with their transactional support experience. Desired experience includes supporting expansion/growth within Asia and change management.

     

    Essential Duties and Job Functions:

    On a day to day basis, the team lead will supervise a team of four staff as they provide the first point of contact and ongoing support for Gilead employees in Asia. This includes general HR issues, benefits, talent acquisition, payroll administration/audit, as well as onboarding and off-boarding employees, and general HR administrative support. The Team Lead will also provide this support directly as 20% of their role. In addition to the management and support of the team, the Team Lead will support the HRBP Asia lead with regional expansion work for Gilead.


    In the first year of the role, the team lead is expected to provide change management support as Gilead implements the HR Asia Hub in Hong Kong. Key responsibilities include managing communications for transition, providing client focus for the HR Operations team, enacting continuous improvement processes, and implementing the change management program for the Asia Hub in Hong Kong. It is also expected to that the Team Lead will recommend and be able to implement refinement of the specialist roles, as the HR Asia Hub reaches full operation capacity and matures.

    Language capabilities are essential for this role. Gilead requires bilingual personal for the HR Asia Hub. At a minimum, candidates must possess proven English skills, (spoken/reading/writing) to a professional business or native level of proficiency. The same level of proven proficiency is also required for either Japanese or Mandarin. Candidates with Korean proficiency may also be considered depending upon skills, qualifications and experience. Candidates that do not meet these language proficiency requirements will not be considered. 

     

    Knowledge, Experience and Skills:

    • Business proficiency or higher in English and one of the following: Japanese, Mandarin or Korean
    • Minimum of 7 years HR experience with a multinational company in Asia 
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience providing regional support/coverage
    • Proven track record of providing administrative/transactional support with excellence 
    • Supervisory Management experience 
    • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)


    Desired skills and experience 

    • Working proficiency or higher in a 3rd regional language 
    • Previously held a similar role in a multinational company 
    • Supervised/managed teams of 3 or more personnel
    • Experience in supporting/implementing change management

     

    This is a regional role; successful candidates will be expected to travel approximately 10-20% of the time. While most business travel will be in Asia it will also include periodic trips to the United States as required.
