    PURPOSE/GENERAL SUMMARY:

    Senior Merchandiser who has experience sourcing and managing vendors who produce retail store fixtures/furniture (millwork and metal) as well as sourcing experience with hard goods and fashion accessories. This sourcing specialist will be responsible for assisting the US team in vendor selection, cost negotiations, quality assurance and on time delivery.

     

    This person will provide thought leadership from a sourcing perspective; to build strong working relationships with vendors and to influence vendors to provide our organization a high quality/low cost solution as well as constantly providing optimal delivery time.

     

    This position will work closely with vendors on capacity planning to assist our Operations team on managing production placement to ensure no back order/capacity shortage. The individual will identify and qualify new vendors if and when there is a gap in base of supply.

     

    Knowledge of costing model of fixtures/furniture, hard goods, fashion accessories, as well as production capacity management will be keys for the success of this position.

     

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for local (China), regional (Asia), and global initiatives for store fixtures/furniture, hard goods and fashion accessories.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, identify opportunities for cost savings; understand competitive bidding process and thorough knowledge of RFQ process
    • Investigate savings opportunity for each executed strategy / deals. Respond to requests in a timely manner and being proactive in looking for potential sourcing opportunities
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills. Able to communicate effectively to the vendor base, as well as to the Sourcing and Operations teams at home office
    • Strong internal/supplier relationship management experience. Interacts with internal partners to develop, engage and lead supplier relationships for extracting the greatest value in cost, risk management, and innovation.  Manage the ongoing performance of key vendors including objective setting and vendor evaluations where warranted
    • Proven ability to work on cross-functional teams within a matrix organizational structure.  Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.

     

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS (e.g. Qualification, Job Experience):

     

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Science or related field required or equivalent combination of experience and education
    • Must have 5-10 years sourcing experience and demonstrated subject matter expertise & success in retail store fixtures/furniture, various hard goods and fashion accessories.
    • Exceptional negotiations skills and product development skills.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling and materials used for retail stores fixtures/furniture, hard goods and fashion accessories.
    • Experience in retail store fixture industry is preferred.
    • Strong organizational skills and workload management.
    • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate across various functional groups.
    • Self-motivator to drive results with proven business and financial acumen.
    • Ability to work independently as an on-site supervisor.
    • Ability to travel domestically (within China).
    • Fluent in English and Mandarin is a must.
    • Demonstrated decision-making skills.
    • Skilled in SAP is a plus.
    • Knowledge of regional based manufacturing sites in China.
    • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint is preferred.

    Candidates with less experience will be considered as Senior Merchandiser.
