PURPOSE/GENERAL SUMMARY:

To work with the Design Department, Merchants, Vendors and Suppliers, taking responsibility for sourcing and the quality of fabrics and color including garments and components to assure final product quality, and product development.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for raw material quality and color approval under the L Brands and regulatory standards.
• Responsible raw material sourcing, technical development and pre-production of all fabric and color for bulk production.
• Take control of the submissions with responsibility for the interpretation and communication to all departmental laboratory testing.
• Apply effective systems of quality management, both internally and with suppliers/vendors to support the fabric and color development process and assure final product quality.
• Partner with Cross-functional partners including Design, Merchandising and QA team on development production discussion.
• Work with supplier and vendor daily, and provide technical training and advice on issues of fabric and color performance.
• Maintain a technical education of the latest techniques and methods available to the textile industry.
• Evaluate the mills for their ability to meet the business requirement in quality of product, capacity, and cost.
• Knowledge and skills in digital color approval using Datacolor software.
• Maintain a technical education of the latest techniques available to the textile industry.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (e.g. Qualification, Job Experience):

• A technical education in Textile Science to degree level or equivalent.
• At least 5 years practical experience of fabric and color development, including production.
• At least 5 years practical experience of applying proven techniques of quality assurance within the textile industry.
• Must have garment product development knowledge and good understanding of the Intimate Apparel business.
