Our client requires a Client Accounting Director in Shanghai, China. This is a new opportunity available for an experienced Global Relocation and Mobility Expense/Accounting professional.
 
Languages required - Proficient business-level English and Mandarin Chinese is essential.
 
This role will report into the VP of APAC.
 
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director is responsible for managing the day to day activities pertinent to Client Accounting functions in China by providing leadership and direction to a team of Accountants.

The Director is also responsible for the supervision of the delivery of client accounting functions as performed by local team to include:

  • Audit, payment, tracking and reporting of assignee expenses and third party supplier payments
  • Corporate Client billing for local China based clients
  • To act as local expert and relationship owner for China based finance client contacts
  • To act as the local liaison for US based corporate accounting and local Service providers
  • To own the local banking relationship
  • To provide ongoing training to Service Provider
  • To implement new clients


PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Hiring, management and retention of Senior Accountant & Accountants as well as direction to the Expense Processing team, to include but not limited to selection, individual & team development, guidance and motivation to achieve/exceed company and individual performance goals
  • Deliver training on new processes, systems, policies and procedures to current and new employees
  • Perform quality control audits, monitor, evaluate and prepare employees performance assessments
  • Provides guidance and counsel for problematic situations and escalated issues
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues and service partners, pertinent to execution of position responsibilities
  • Develop and implement appropriate policies and procedures to maximize team efficiencies
  • Implement processes and controls to meet contract SLA requirements
  • Provide input on systems implementation and enhancements to improve process and efficiency
  • Complete monthly, quarterly and year-end management reports
  • Complete additional assignments, activities and / or projects as requested by the manager / management team

 
EDUCATION:  Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance, or equivalent combination of experience, skills, training and education

 
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 + years of overall accounting experience, specifically relocation accounting , tax / gross-up and expense management processes within the relocation industry, consulting firm or multinational company in positions of increasing responsibility
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, concepts and practices
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relocation benefits, and current relocation Tax laws and regulations
  • Strong presentation skills before small, medium and large audiences
  • Demonstrated experience with accounting performance metrics
  • Prior experience managing and/or leading large scale projects and/or supervising teams preferred
  • Must have demonstrated expertise using multiple software packages and payroll systems, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Arev, Solomon, and other current accounting software packages
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and must have the ability to confidently communicate at multiple levels within an organization

 
The Director must have comprehensive knowledge of the relocation process as it pertains to policy interpretation and application, must be knowledgeable of current relocation tax laws and regulations, adept with analyzing costs, must demonstrate the ability to direct multiple projects, some may be complex in nature, build trust through relationship management, manage to deadlines and budgets and rely on extensive experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
 
Ability to use standard company equipment, such as computer and  communications systems, fax, printer, calculator, 10 key, copy machine and other equipment as required by position.
