Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Electrical Engineer, the job holder will work in the Electrical Department of the Projects Division with the following responsibilities: 

 

Responsibilities:

l   To assist Senior Engineer in planning, preparation of conceptual design, budget, programme and technical specification for the power development and building services projects to facilitate the tendering process

l   To provide support to the Senior Engineer in completing tender evaluation and recommendation to ensure that the returned bids be assessed fairly and objectively and the recommended bid be the most favourable to the Company whilst meeting the projects requirements

l   To assist Senior Engineer in performing programme, safety, cost and quality control throughout various contract execution stages from detailed design audit, construction, testing and commissioning to completion of works to ensure that the project works be proceeded and completed on schedule, within budget, and meet the specified quality, safety, environmental and statutory requirements

l   To allocate and supervise or delegate part of the tasks to subordinates in support of the project team as well as to conduct training of Graduate Trainees

l   To participate or chair on behalf of Senior Engineer in working level meetings with internal and external parties to ensure smooth execution of the project

l   To carry out quality control including inspection and testing at manufacturers’ fabrication workshop (local or overseas) and at construction site, as well as goods receiving to ensure all supplied materials and associated workmanship meet the contract requirements

l   To liaise and coordinate with relevant internal parties in the Projects Division, other departments / divisions, contractors and other external parties to address and resolve environmental, quality, health and safety, and interfacing issues, as well as to ensure compliance with legal and statutory requirements and other project objectives

 

Requirements:

l   Degree holder in Electrical Engineering

l   A minimum of 6 years’ relevant working experience after completion of the 2-year HKIE Scheme A training or a minimum of 9 years’ relevant working experience

l   Corporate membership of the HKIE or equivalent

l   Solid knowledge in international quality, environmental and safety management standards

l   Conversant with project engineering, coordination and contract administration

l   Familiar with relevant local and international regulations, procedures, standards and codes of practice

l   Proficient in computer applications such as MS Office packages

l   Solid writing, communication and presentation skills

l   Independent, good team player with self-initiative

l   Strong sense of responsibility

l   Strong problem solving skills

l   Capable of adapting to changes for continual improvement

l   Able to work under pressure, long hours and tough/challenging working conditions

l   Preferably possession of a valid driving licence (Class 1 & 2)

 

Those with a Higher Diploma/Certificate and a minimum of 15 years’ of relevant working experience or an Electrical Engineering Degree with lesser experience will be considered for a lower position.
