Reporting to the Engineer I, the job holder will work at the Construction & Maintenance Department of the Transmission & Distribution Division in Ap Lei Chau responsible for carrying out cable trenching related work. The main responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities:

n   To assist in supervising the day to day site construction activities for trenching work and to ensure conformance with Highways requirements, contract conditions, drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, Safety, Health and Environmental requirements and relevant legislations

n   To conduct daily site audit inspections to ensure work progress and quality of work and resolve site conflicts

n   To hold site meetings and coordinate with relevant government departments, utility undertakers, consultants to ensure smooth progress of work

n   To handle public complaints / enquiries related to trench work

n   To conduct trench measurement with Contractor / Quality Surveyor and report to Supervisors for work done confirmation

Requirements:

n   Foundation Diploma / Ordinary Certificate in civil engineering

n   Proven experience in the execution of power cable trenching projects

n   At least 5 years’ experience in civil engineering works preferably on trenching projects and contractor supervision

n   Good communication and site management skills

n   Adequate command of English and good command in Chinese

n   Working outdoor, under stress, overnight and on public holiday are required

n   Possession of a valid driving license

Candidates with less working experience / lower qualification will be considered for the post of Assistant Inspector of Works.

This is a 2-year contract position. The renewal of contract is subject to the Company’s business needs and performance of the individual.
