Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Provide quality PR consultancy. Have strong client relationships and ability to lead, drive the implementation of PR campaigns and achieve results for clients. Responsible for overall management of projects.  Responsible for managing the maximum efficiency of each staff’s performance, and all human resources issue, will be expected to understand your teams’ contribution to the company as a whole. Have experience of pitching for new business and proposal writing. Perform managerial responsibility for team.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 4/5 years’ working experience, including managerial experience, in client management in marketing communications or PR field;
  • University degree graduate in marketing, communications, or journalism
  • Excellent English & Chinese writing skills (from press releases, commercial copy, to business proposals)
  • Well rounded marketing, PR and advertising knowledge
  • Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities
  • A team player, capable of leading from the front.
  • Dynamic and inspiring leadership skills to be able to drive and direct team toward successful project completion
  • Good communication and negotiation skills, both internally and externally.
  • Eager to use the role to expand company and individual horizons.
  • Keen awareness of market, and opportunities for agency growth.
  • Proven new business skills.

CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Account Management

  1. Provide critical day-to-day interface with media in relation to clients’ PR campaigns, initiating editorial coverage on their behalf and ensuring they are always presented in the most favourable light in the media.
  2. Understand clients’ priorities – on brief / on time / on budget etc.
  3. Understand clients’ aims and ambitions for the business.
  4. Liaise with clients in servicing their needs, ensuring all objectives and deliverables set out by the client-agency agreement are met on time and on budget.
  5. Ensure client work is delivered to specific requirements and agreed deadlines.
  6. Communicate and liaise with clients effectively and regularly and inspire their confidence and trust.  Regularly brief the managing director on all issues relating to the client.
  7. Provide general strategic and tactical counsel.
  8. Produce the monthly activity reports as required by clients.
  9. Oversee the tracking and valuations of media clippings.
  10. Manage agency’s available human resources and team of account executives to ensure efficiency and productivity at all levels in collaboration with overall account teams.
  11. Meet, and exceed, client expectations.
  12. Safeguard agency standard of work.
  13. Innovate and present new ideas to help clients meet their ambitions for the business.

 Production, Media Relations, Advertising, Special Events Planning

  1. Responsible for producing high quality PR materials in English and Chinese in a timely manner.
  2. Responsible for putting together advertising plans as needed.
  3. Responsible for planning of any special events.
  4. Build excellent network with local media.
  5. Copywriting & editing.

 New Business Development

  1. Assist Managing Director in new business development, including identifying and pursuing potential clients, research, producing proposals and coordinating presentations and pitches.
  2. Contribute to the overall productivity and efficiency of the agency.
  3. Take an active role in developing new business, from current clients and new opportunities.

 Financial Performance

  1. Track current work in progress and ensure that projects are delivered to budget.
  2. Ensure client fees are reviewed, renewed and billed accordingly.
  3. Manage own client profitability with Finance Director.
  4. Track team financial performance.

Staff Development/Team Building/Talent Management

  1. Keep team motivated and engaged within the agency.
  2. Arrange training, mentoring and coaching where and when appropriate.
  3. Manage your account executives and account managers’ workload.
  4. Arrange and run team appraisals and provide feedback to staff when relevant.
  5. Keep Account Director / HR aware of any particular problems.
  6. Espouse company culture, and stand by agency core values.

 

CORE COMPETENCIES

English & Chinese Copywriting

  1. Knows the fundamental components and format of a press release (journalistic style, inverted pyramid format, ‘lead’ construction, etc.)
  2. Writes grammatically correct sentences with no misspellings
  3. Does literal translation from English copy into Chinese
  4. Is familiar with nuanced and ‘formal’ tones, traditional vs simplified Chinese
  5. Writes a press release with speed
  6. Writes a press release with minimal editing
  7. Write catchy headlines that capture essence of the press release
  8. Does more than just literal translation but writes copy according to proper context
  9. Writes copy that’s crisp, catchy and memorable, without being cliché’d
  10. Demonstrates a range of styles from more staid business/corporate to catchier product-driven press releases. 
  11. Edits and improves copy

 Media Relations & Pitching 

  1. Knows the fundamentals of different media categories and they how operate – ie leadtimes, hierarchy, how stories get commissioned, what publications freelancers write for, etc.
  2. Knows who the key media contacts are in key publications
  3. Puts a media list together with ease, speed and accuracy
  4. Effectively pitches a story with warmth and conviction in writing and verbally
  5. ‘Frames’ a pitch according to what’s relevant and appealing to a journalist, and not just regurgitate what’s in the press release
  6. Possesses overall industry trends, stats and context to be able to strategically add depth, breadth and fresh perspectives to media pitching
  7. Pitches with warmth and conviction, while gaining the trust and confidence of a journalist and building stronger relations
  8. Has the ability to place multiple stories across several clients in one pitch
  9. Troubleshoots without compromising the longterm relationship with media contacts

 Account Service

  1. Executes tasks as directed
  2. Is capable of executing multiple tasks across multiple clients
  3. Meets multiple deadlines, and when she/he can’t, advises the appropriate parties in advance when they can expect the task to be completed 
  4. Actively engages and seeks the support of various members of the team
  5. Proactively communicates to team members the status of projects
  6. Keeps client files and activity reports (including tracking, monitoring, valuations, etc.) up to date on a weekly basis.
  7. Is organized and thorough
  8. Anticipates potential problems and delays and plans accordingly
  9. Advises clients daily/regularly on project status
  10. Proactively seeks solutions
  11. Keeps all parties within and outside the account team informed on all relevant developments regarding client portfolio
  12. Ensures all soft and hard files of client work are organized, up to date, and easily accessible by those outside the account team, in the event that certain documents need to be accessed.
  13. Delegates resources and time to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity.
  14. Ensures client objectives, briefs and expectations are delivered according to deadlines and agreed budgets

 Social Media Management

  1. Understands and can differentiate the functions and features of key social media platforms – Facebook, Weibo, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and forums
  2. Develops communications strategies and execution plans to integrate social media into client’s traditional PR campaigns
  3. Effectively manages social media campaigns on a day-to-day basis - manage presence in social networking platforms, posts and seeds content on relevant sites, handle responses on timely basis
  4. Effectively communicates in appropriate tone of voice on social media platforms and forums
  5. Is familiar with key blogger targets in relevant categories and engages blogger/ ambassador programs as part of overall PR outreach
  6. Monitors and measures effectiveness of social media programs; analyzes, reviews and provides insights and suggestions to maximize results
  7. Keeps up to date on changes in social media tools, trends and strategies
