Master Pay Scale Point 28-33 ($47,280 - $59,485)

3-year probationary contract

Job Purposes:

Support Principal Public Affairs Officer to promote the Council's image and leadership in consumer protection in Hong Kong and around the globe by developing and implementing effective communication strategies and establishing sustainable networks targeting local Regulators, Trade Associations & Consumer Protection Associations around the globe. Manage corporate communication projects, mainly the production of corporate publications and publicity materials. Support and drive a culture of high performance, teamwork and continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality. 

 

Candidates should have:

  1. A recognized university degree, or higher degree or relevant professional qualifications. Qualifications in the field of English or Chinese languages, Translations or Journalism preferred.
  2. 5 - 7 years of relevant exposure in sizable organizations or agencies, at least 2 - 3 years at managerial level. 
  3. A genuine communicator with strong communication and presentation skills and excellent writing and editing skills. Exceptional writing and editing skills in English is a definite advantage.
  4. Good knowledge of current affairs. Sensitive to regulatory changes in Hong Kong and its impact in public sentiment. Possesses ability to address potential negative or crisis situation with mitigation plan.
  5. Solid operational experience in corporate communication, including production of corporate collaterals and publicity materials. Sound knowledge in issues management.
  6. Highly collaborative in style and a natural relationship builder with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to establish partnership at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  7. Resourceful, energetic, and maturity.   A self-starter attend to details and initiating and implementing new ideas or programmes.
  8. Lead by demonstrating a high level of commitment in execution excellence meeting deadlines and quality standards through measuring, reviewing and analyzing impact of the respective activities.

 

Main duties include:

  1. Support Principal Public Affairs Officer to identify and establish sustainable relationship with strategic stakeholder groups locally, regionally and internationally with a focus on strengthening the Council's presence and influence
  2. Accountable for the development of high quality materials for different communication platforms, including annual report, booklets, posters and pamphlets etc;
  3. Compile, translate and edit press materials for CHOICE magazine and other Council events, including lines to take, press release, fact sheets, statements and Q&As, etc.
  4. Identify and monitor issues of relevance to consumer protection actively and the Council’s strategic initiatives both locally and globally.
  5. Support issues / crisis management. Responsible for the development of issues management plan and relevant briefing material.
  6. Provide editorial support for Council’s official website and other online communication, when needed; act as a backup controller of the Council’s online contents.
  7. Support the CE's Office in liaising with Chairman Office to develop communication materials with key stakeholders / stakeholder groups, such as regulators, corporations, community leaders and media to maintain trust, integrity and Council’s leadership in consumer protection. Specific duties including, prepare speeches, briefing papers, reports, analysis and presentations, etc.

 

Terms of Appointment & Fringe Benefits:

Appointment will be offered on 3-year probationary contract. Fringe benefits include paid leave, medical insurance and MPF.
