Job Description

Reporting to the Exco Team, the Strategy Analyst will work closely with the Brand and Functional Directors on a project basis to provide strategic support and develop growth/change strategies, as well as design and provide regular reporting to give insights into competitive performance. Responsibilities will include:

Strategic planning support

  • Analyse customer intelligence to provide actionable insight, and inform focused market research plans with Marketing
  • Analyse competitor intelligence to identify key competitors and disruptors, compare propositions, performance and identify sources of differentiation
  • Research and analyse internal and external data to understand key trends and implications for our brands e.g. market growth, customer behaviour, market penetration,
  • Consistently provide insights on the segment and business implications of research & analysis
  • Size the market opportunity for agreed new propositions
  • Build business models and quantify new product development opportunities
  • Draft strategic plans & new product development plans, working with Brand Directors

Operational strategy & reporting

  • Design and produce regular and relevant reports to communicate performance and mid-term outlook for sales across platforms and products, supplying these reports for quarterly leadership meetings
  • Liaise with Brand Directors to challenge and review budget forecasts with clarity on assumptions and risks
  • Supply commentary on business performance and outlook to inform mgmt. decision-making

Systems & tools

  • PowerOLAP for financial manipulation
  • Sales Force for insight into sales operations
  • PowerPoint, Excel and Word for clear report building
  • Project Mgmt tools

Key abilities

  • Carry out complex research and analysis independently
  • Structure their own work with support from Finance and Brand Directors
  • Take the results of research & analysis to a logical and relevant end-point, with minimum supervision
  • Contribute to and lead creation of deliverables, including reports and presentations
  • Independently interact and collaborate with stakeholders across the business
  • Become an “expert” on 3-5 industry segments and demonstrate flexibility to work on projects in different segments as business needs require
  • Demonstrate ability to have communicate effectively at all levels

Qualifications & competencies

  • Proven research and analysis skills, and ability to drive valuable insight
  • Experience using Excel for data analysis and/or business modeling
  • Experience using “data cube” tools such as PowerOLAP
  • Experience using PowerPoint to create report-style slide decks
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate
  • Ability to manage own work and meet deadlines

Professional Experience & Qualifications

  • University degree required
  • Professional or relevant post-graduate qualification preferred
  • Relevant business experience, preferably with exposure to the digital media industries and/or marketing communications or finance segments
