Job Summary and Mission

Based in Hong Kong, this job contributes to Starbucks success by managing the development and implementation of large or highly-complex safety & security programs or processes that improve profitability, reduce costs, streamline operations or enhance customer service. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leads project teams and sub-teams to develop and implement new programs and process improvements. Manages projects in accordance with Starbucks established program management methodologies.
  • Consults with the sponsoring business unit or units in the development of a clearly articulated vision, mission, business case and resulting Program Charter for programs. Works cross-functionally with business partners, Safety & Security partners, suppliers and other teams to ensure successful execution of programs. Ensures projects comply with established company standards.
  • Develops an integrated plan that includes program deliverables, strategic alignment, total revenue, profit opportunity, enterprise-wide impacts, milestones, risks, assumptions, constraints and overall program investment. Updates program plans, priorities, and project sequencing as needed.
  • Manages and monitors project or program schedules, progress and costs to ensure that expected results are delivered on time and within budget. Maintains, adjusts and updates project plans as needed. Consolidates, communicates and ensures resolution of all issues. May develop and collect performance metrics.
  • Represents business unit, department or functional area and work with cross-functional teams to set targets and deadlines, develop plans, conduct analyses, measure results and improve processes.
  • Provides functional expertise to assess potential financial and operational impact. Consults with senior management to present data, propose solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develops innovative approaches to complex problems and situations. Conducts research including external benchmarking and utilizes statistical tools and scenario analysis to guide sound financial business decisions.
  • Analyzes current processes, tools, system or database and makes recommendations for development, improvement or simplification. Acts as a subject matter expert in cross-functional teams to provide recommendations on new initiatives or projects. Assesses benefits to be derived from systems improvements and quantifies impact to business unit.


Summary of Experience

  • Strong experience in project management, including all elements of scope, time, cost, risk, quality, integration, procurement, human resources and communications.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies, from initial justification through implementation and evaluation.
  • Ability to work across functional areas to develop effective business solutions that align with company and business unit/department objectives.
  • Ability to manage complex large-scale or multiple mid-sized projects.
  • Experience in systems and process analysis, design and deployment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally (English & Chinese) and in writing.
  • Ability to influence without authority vertically and horizontality throughout the organization and with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to present information to senior leaders.
  • Ability to lead and mentor team members.
  • Ability to establish cross functional, collaborative relationships with business partners.
  • Advanced Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, Project, Tableau, statistical analysis and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong in business analysis skills, with the ability to see implications and provide consultative solutions and recommendations.
  • Strong negotiation skills and change management skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to define objectives, scope and resources for projects extending beyond a department or business unit.
  • Ability to lead complex program and project efforts to completion.
