Job Description

The Job:

• Perform and control the full audit cycle including risk assessment and control management over
operations’ effectiveness, financial reliability and compliance with all applicable directives and
regulations. Regular audit testing consisting of operational, financial and/or compliance audits in the
following three ways:

a) Control review / assurance - Reviews the adequacy and efficiency of the control system and provides assurance that the controls are working and the risk are effectively managed.

b) Inquiry - Performs procedures to understand and assess the residual risk on the controls related to a business activity or identified risk area where management has an acceptable level of uncertainty of the said controls

c) Consulting - Advises management in the development of the control systems to mitigate unacceptable current risks

• Determine internal audit scope and develop annual plans
• Obtain, analyse and evaluate policy and procedures documentation, previous reports, financial data, flowcharts etc
• Document process, prepare and present reports that reflect audit’s results
• Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement
• Identify loopholes and recommend risk aversion measures and cost savings
• Maintain open communication with management and audit committee
• Document process and prepare audit findings report
• Conduct follow up audits to monitor management’s interventions
• Engage to continuous knowledge development regarding sector’s rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards

The Person:

• 5-7 years experience with big 4. Internal audit experience a plus
• Insurance knowledge and experience a must
• Ability to analyse large amounts of data and compile detailed reports
• Knowledge of auditing standards and procedures, laws, rules and insurance regulations
• High attention to details and good analytical skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Sound independent judgement
• Critical thinking ability and not afraid of voicing opinion
• University graduate and member of a professional body i.e. AICPA, HKICPA, ICAEW, ACCA etc
