Key Specific Responsibilities:

* Participates in network design activities for projects supporting the various IT infrastructure peer domains including telecom/network, client/end-user technology, server & storage, info security, and hosting teams.

* Designs complex new technology into the production network.

* Develops and communicates network infrastructure design plans, future strategic and tactical plans to support decision making activities. * Researches and recommends next generation network technology, products, & services.

* Designs customized solutions as required to support Business objectives.

* Consults peer groups in the development of project plans & architectures.

* Oversees lab tests, proofs-of-concept, bug scrubs, and other technical evaluations to ensure that new technology fits into the network and performs as expected.

Desired Qualifications:

* Experience with Content Distribution or Carrier/ISP/NSP Networks.

* Router configuration experience in a multi-national backbone.

* In-Depth knowledge of BGP and protocols (TCP/IP) used on the Internet.

* Extensive understanding of the global DNS system.

* Knowledge of general Internet network operations including those of Internet and network service providers.

* Exposure to network diagnostics tools to aid in troubleshooting and problem detection e.g. nmap, tcpdump, netflow.

* Ability to drive or develop automation tools.

* Knowledge of basic networking security principles.

* Desire to learn, have fun and be part of a highly functional and competent team of Internet networking professionals.
