Discovery College is a member school of the English Schools Foundation. The College opened in 2008 in new, purpose-built campus in Discovery Bay, Hong Kong in August 2008. The College is now a full Years 1-13 (K-12) school with over 1,300 primary and secondary students offering the International Baccalaureate PYP, MYP and Diploma programmes. Our school community is diverse and represents a group of highly motivated staff and students from over 40 home countries.

Communications Officer

Responsibilities

• This role provides administrative support to the school development and communications office and supports all school communication materials, e.g. newsletters, school publications, graphic design, and maintains the school website. A strong technical understanding of web design is required. Data entry is required.
• Provide administrative support e.g. filing, typing complex and routine correspondence from rough draft, handwritten notes, machine dictation, or general verbal instructions
• Editing/Proofreading
• Assist with maintaining a database of College alumni and supporting alumni communications
• Research grant/fundraising opportunities and track correspondence
• Assist with information gathering for College publications

Requirements

• 3-4 years relevant experience
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Other Microsoft applications
• Experience producing high quality publications
• Fluency in oral, written English, Cantonese (advantage)
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• Applies good understanding of school’s or department’s major functions, work methods and procedures and their interrelation with other department’s responsibilities and activities
• Knowledge of iWork package and/or Microsoft Office programmes
