Job Description
General Summary:
This is a senior leadership role, which provides strategic direction to the division and creates and works towards a 5 year plan. The Director is customer focused and is an expert on the wants, interests and needs of his customer base. This role acts as a change agent and a change leader. One of the key accountabilities is to drive business development. This role requires a high level of collaboration with multiple stakeholders within the business and externally.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaboratively create strategic sourcing plans for 5 years to grow the business (FOB shipped and participation rate) in line with overall business growth plans
- Build strong relationships with buying teams and compliance teams to develop the business and to get customer insights
- Use customer insights to drive innovation in products and solutions
- Partner with the Senior Merchandising Manager and others to drive financial plans for assigned area
- Follow-up with team and highlight any risks or concerns that might have an impact on the timely delivery of the right quality product
- Define and manage expense budget so that expenses are within the agreed targets
- Partner with HR to proactively recruit, develop and promote the right talent
- Demonstrate DG values-led behaviors in managing performance
- Give feedback proactively to encourage the right behaviors within the team
- Coach / mentor identified talent
- Lead the changes required to keep the business competitive and on track to be the first choice for buyers
- Proactively identify and work on solutions that deliver significant cost savings to the business
- Partner with the other Directors and with Satellite Offices to own and drive business KPIs
- Provide timely and complete information to the Satellite office teams thus setting them up to succeed

Work Experience &/or Education:
- University degree in relevant discipline preferred.
- 12 - 15 years’ experience in sourcing related areas.
- A track record in sourcing development and product development with a strong understanding of supply chain activities.
