Job Description

Summary of the Position

Lead and perform the supplier ethical and quality assessment and development, with the objective of ensuring supplier compliance with the WBA ethical, quality and regulatory standards and requirements in order to minimize risk to WBA global brands, through managing effective audit compliance programs and risk assessment best practice.

The role requires an in depth knowledge and practical experience of Quality Management System & Process Auditing / Social Accountability Assessment and Risk Assessment skill etc.

 

 

 

Responsibilities & Specific Accountabilities

Supplier evaluation and approval

Lead the execution of the new supplier evaluation and approval process, with collaboration with cross-functional team and through a range of activities including – assessment, audit, action plan follow up and regular review etc., in order to ensure suppliers meet WBA commercial, quality, ethical and regulatory requirements.

Supplier quality assessments & audits

Being a qualified QMS auditor to conduct QMS and process audits in order to ensure suppliers have the right capability and quality system & processes in place to deliver quality products to WBA which meet agreed technical, quality and safety requirements.

Supplier ethical assessment & management

Lead the execution and control of various supplier ethical assessment programs (including both retail brands’ ethical sourcing audits) in order to ensure issues and risks identified are followed up with corrective & preventive action plan implemented to manage the global brand risks.

Risk assessment

Be capable to objectively perform risk assessment to manage supplier, ethical and quality risks and non-compliances. Ensure the cross-functional team, UK and US are fully engaged to identify the risks and come up proposed actions to mitigate risks to Global Brand.

Stakeholders communication & awareness

Establish and maintain effective communication with internal (i.e. WBA HK/Thailand/Shanghai, UK & US colleagues) and external stakeholders (suppliers & auditing companies) on assuring awareness of ethical and quality requirements through regular review, briefing, training and coaching in order to ensure the WBA’s ethical and quality audit requirements, processes and risks are fully understood, followed up and controlled.

Process development, compliance & efficiency

Drive and continuously develop effective supplier ethical and quality processes and monitor process compliance (e.g. through self audit activities) in order to ensure the processes are updated, strictly followed and efficient to meet the ever changing business needs.

KPI’s performance management & data reporting

Lead the management and monitoring of the ethical and quality KPI’s in Balance Scorecard, and ensure timely performance reporting and escalation to the management team with proposed solutions to tackle performance issues.

Management of 3rd party service providers

Monitor and develop the performance of 3rd party auditing companies through a range of activities including – regular review meetings, issue log, shadow audits and annual audit etc. in order to drive continuous improvement on process and ensure the required level of services are delivered.

People management & development

Manage and develop the Technologists through range of activities – regular review, training, coaching and PL/PDP management etc. in order to ensure the team members are highly motivated and engaged, with developed capabilities that continue to meet the needs of the business.

  • Knowledge and practical experience of Quality Management System & Process Auditing

Customers and Stakeholders

  • WBA US Product Integrity team and WBA UK Ethical and Supplier Assessment team
  • WBA Asia cross functional team of both UK and US business (i.e. sourcing, supply chain, packaging, quality, product Integrity team etc) based in HK, Shanghai, Thailand
  • 3rd party service providers


Geographical Accountability (if any)

  • WBA Asia - Hong Kong / China / Thailand / other countries as the business grows
  • Support regional offices in the execution of ethical compliance


Education and Qualifications

  • Degree holder in Science/Engineering or similar technical disciplines
  • ISO9001 Lead auditor or qualified QMS or GMP auditor or equivalent, solid experience in food safety, GMP and healthcare audits preferable


Job Experience

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in:

  • Supplier assessment and compliance from either the sourcing or buying office setting for US market, working with wide range of vendors in Asia
  • Ethical audit and management on suppliers and factories
  • Exposure and experience in ethical compliance requirements for US and UK markets
  • Practical auditing skills in Quality management system and/or manufacturing process audit


Knowledge and Skills

  • Language – Fluent English, Cantonese and Mandarin (written and spoken)
  • In-depth Knowledge of quality management system and ethical standards e.g. ISO9001, GMP, ISO13485, SA8000 and ETI etc.
  • Able to conduct QMS, GMP or quality audit independently.
  • Risk assessment experience
  • Proficient problem solving skills.
  • Able to manage project independently
  • People management skills and experience
  • Communication with internal and external parties
