General Description:

The successful candidate will join our interior design and technology team to help deliver innovative design solutions using CAD drawings, presentation graphics, interior materials and textiles, and other media for a range of clients and sectors in Hong Kong and the region. His/her focus will be on generating creative solutions within an assigned project or projects and assisting in their development. The role will usually allow the candidate to carry through projects to execution, entailing technical resolution of conceptual ideas, with support from more senior design teammates.

He/she will have a higher diploma or undergraduate degree in Interior Design from an accredited institute or university and 5-6 years practical experience in the design/detailing of commercial or retail interiors. He/she must have some working experience in the region.

The candidate must be a self-motivated team player with experience and interest in modern design, participating widely in broader processes. A passion and/or experience in interdisciplinary creativity will be a plus. The position will allow the right person ample scope for career growth and professional learning.

Role:

• To promote and produce design excellence in every area of the firm’s endeavours, taking responsibility for specific design decisions under the supervision of the Senior Designer(s) and Directors

• To develop and lead projects assigned to you to successful completion, having demonstrated a well-documented understanding of overarching project issues and their detailed resolutions

• To communicate directly with clients, contractors, landlords, building management officers and others, taking responsibility for these interactions to lead to successful project delivery [This process is sometimes, but not always, led by a Project Manager or Senior Designer.]

• To liaise with Project Managers, Senior Designers and the team to deliver integrated solutions, especially in support of One Space’s interior & technology synergies

• To champion the One Space methodology and to mentor Junior Designers and Design Assistants towards continuing learning and professional growth

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office, Sketch-Up, Adobe Creative Suite. Use of 3D Studio Max will be an advantage

• Fluent in Cantonese and English; Mandarin is an advantage

• Can produce original conceptual ideas and engages in creative problem-solving

• Communicates ideas openly and thrives on collaboration

• Enthusiastic, reliable and eager to learn

Work experience requirements

• Minimum 5-6 years’ experience in interior design or a related field

• Good understanding of construction detailing and materials

• Experience in preparation of interior working drawings

• Candidates with lesser experience would be considered as Junior Designer role
