Job Description

We are looking for a Junior Legal Counsel who will provide legal support to the Gibson Innovations business and provide support to the Senior Legal Counsel.

The Junior Legal Counsel will take ownership of standard and straightforward matters and assess and attend regular flow of non-standard and challenging work requests. The scope of work will include a wide range of business-to-business issues, including the drafting and negotiating of commercial agreements.

Being successful in this role requires a confident, organized, focused and results-oriented lawyer who must also have strong inter-personal skills, common sense and commercial understanding.

The role requires working closely with the commercial function, as well as other teams such as Finance, HR, Marketing and Product Management.

This is an extremely proactive hands-on role that will suit a commercial lawyer who enjoys challenges and is looking for international exposure!

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist on various (non) standard briefings
  • Provide pragmatic and commercially-focused legal advice to the Business
  • Contract drafting and negotiations (non-disclosure agreements; (global) distribution and customer sales; non product related procurement; repair of products)
  • Support Senior Legal Counsel in developing and rolling-out of standard templates to support corporate and business operation
  • Liaise and coordinate with Business and external law firms
  • Support Senior Legal Counsel in the (Global) roll-out of training, procedures and guidelines (as developed by Legal Department)
  • Support Legal Department in projects initiated by Legal Department

 

Job Requirements:  

  • Degree in Law
  • 2-3 years of experience in law firm or in-house legal department in multinational companies
  • Global/regional experience in Consumer Electronics or similar industry is preferable
  • Strong desire to work in a commercial environment
  • Excellent inter-personal skills with ability to work confidently and effectively across all levels of business and different cultures
  • A self-starter who is dynamic and proactive and able to “hit the ground running”
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills with ability to understand what is actually being said (in circumstances in which significant language and cultural barriers may exist) and to explain issues and draft agreements succinctly, clearly and precisely
  • High level of accuracy and attention to details
  • Commercially- minded and solutions driven
  • A good team player
  • Highly adaptable to business changes with ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and spoken English
