Responsibilities:

• Support the Chief Risk Officer to develop and implement a robust and risk based framework for corporate governance and risk management covering accountabilities, reporting and controls
• Responsible for promoting an environment where a risk management culture can flourish
• Ensure key risks have been identified, measured, monitored, managed and reported
• Ensure appropriate levels of risk skills and experience within the team to support consistent risk management practices
• Create and maintain a risk management environment that ensures risks taken by the function are identified, assessed and frequently monitored, managed and reported against.
• Prepare risk reports for Audit & Risk Committee, ALCO and ORRC. Escalate any material risk issues to Regional Risk team. Follow up the actionable outstanding items for ORRC
• Provide support to Risk Policy and Business standard owners in the BU to embed the policies into the BU.
• Review and challenge business initiatives from a capital and risk standpoint
• Acting in an advisory capacity to support risk appetite setting and provide guidance on establishing a control environment to ensure that risks managed within appetite
• Ensure material changes to the relevant Group policies are communicated and embedded into each business unit
• Co-ordinate the half yearly risk policies and business standard attestation

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualification / University Degree
• At least 8 years’ experience in financial services industry (preferably 3 years in risk role)
• Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management, internal control, corporate governance practices and regulatory requirements
• Strong relationship management/customer service through personal impact and influencing skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Strong project planning and people management skills
• Strong focus on timely delivery and production of high quality inputs when under pressure
• Ability to draw insights from analysis and MI
• Good audit, compliance or risk management experience both operational and technical
• Evidence of appropriate track record of delivery
• Candidate with less experience will be considered for Risk Manager
