Beyond Cars is an online enterprise that was founded in June of 2016. We raised US$3 million to create a new service that provides an online venue for researching and buying used cars. Our tech-savvy team has used the knowledge and experiences gleaned from research on similar ventures around the world, and are implementing it to become the very first of its kind to operate in Hong Kong. This well-funded campaign is growing rapidly and is correcting a huge inefficiency in an enormous market. The used-car market in Hong Kong has an annual turnover of over US$2 billion dollars, with other related industries such as automobile care and accessories estimated to be turning more than US$1 billion as well. The key to success for Beyond Cars is our extremely low overhead found in online marketing and sales. The outdated market in Hong Kong only offers their customers two options: Either you buy from used car dealerships at an unreasonably high markup (typically 20%-40%), or you buy/sell privately, which is extremely inconvenient and unreliable due to the lack of automobile available information for the buyer. Dealerships must cover the expense of showrooms and high-commission salespeople, and thus the customer must take a financial hit for the dealership to make a profit. Our solution is to make this entire process available online; sharing the savings of a low overhead with our customers so buyers pay less and sellers get more. We promote better value and establish trust between the ourselves and consumers so that people in our city have the best possible options for buying and selling cars. Our ambitious young team dreams of our service being an accepted part of the automobile industry in Hong Kong, and hope to provide a wide range of services including things like inspection, services, beautification, e-commerce, and even car rentals.
