Flora Conservation Department

Major duties

• To carry out field studies and seed collection for species conservation and habitat restoration programs;
• To supervise the work team of KFBG’s Native Tree Nursery;
• To organize, compile and maintain records and data of KFBG’s Native Tree Nursery;
• To compile, organize and keep computer based records for field surveys and seed collections;
• To assist supervisor and colleagues maintaining the photo records of native plants;
• To coordinate and manage the volunteer program of the Flora Conservation Department;
• To handle general administrative duties and daily operations to ensure successful implementation of the above duties;
• To explore and establish best practice protocols for native tree species germination, vegetative propagation and nursery culture.
  
  

Requirements

• Commitment to the mission, vision and values of KFBGC;
• To be passionate about plant biodiversity and its conservation;
• A postgraduate degree(s) related to plant biodiversity and conservation;
• Experience in field identification of trees in Hong Kong and South China;
• Experience in using databases for handling and processing plant information, including digital data (including images), and living and preserved collections;
• Fluent in Cantonese and English;
• Open minded and recognizes the validity of all spiritual paths.
