• TDEA geographical coverage extends to Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and South Korea. It is imperative this wide footprint is run in a controlled, sustainable, risk mitigated manner while at the same time providing agility for the bank to achieve its market share goals.
• Enhance the Risk and Governance framework within the region to uphold firm’s reputation and safeguard SMBC, its clients and its assets. Drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations from an in-business standpoint
• Provide support for rolling out adherence to new regulations in countries. Interpret changes, assess potential business impact, and assist the trading and sales personnel in their operational readiness and help drive project management
• Appropriately assess risk, governance and controls when regional decisions are made
• Lead the review and update of internal policy & procedures and relevant regulatory requirements
• Coordinate and work closely with Risk, Compliance, Finance, Legal and other control functions incl the head-office to enhance the relationship with the treasury department
• Handle ad-hoc duties as assigned

• University Degree. Postgraduate degree with a finance specialization preferred
• At least 8 years in performing similar roles in the Asian financial industry, preferably with experience in strategic planning, project management, and legal vehicle management
• A thorough understanding of the strategic direction of the business combined with a solid practical grounding in controls, risk and governance is required
• Ability to deliver at both the strategic and operational levels
• Proven track record and accountability providing clarity in complex problems
• A team player with good communication, interpersonal andpresentation skills
• Good command of both spoken and written English, Japanese (JLPT N2 and above or equivalent proficiency)
