Job Duties

• Develops mechanical and electromechanical products following R&D specs provided by US office. Works with OEM’s engineering department to design products for high volume manufacturing.
• Using R&D specs provided by USA, writes product engineering specifications which are turned over to OEM for cost quotations and development start.
• Negotiates BOM and tooling quotations supplied by OEM’s to minimize product costs.
• Determines project schedule by studying project plan and specifications; calculating time requirements; sequencing project elements with OEM.
• Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress; coordinating activities; resolving problems with OEM.
• Develops CAD and working models with OEM’s or model makers to confirm the product design performance meets requirements prior to tool start.
• Communicates as engineering liaison between OEM and USA office for all design and manufacturing issues.
• Work with electrical engineers to integrate electronic and mechanical features to achieve product specification requirements reliably for high volume manufacturing scenarios.
• Debug Engineering Pilot samples with OEM and USA office to refine design’s performance so it achieves product requirements prior to production release.
• Travel to OEM’s as required to work alongside their engineering, manufacturing and QA departments to develop products for manufacturing.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent 4 year college education
• 5 years or more experience as a Project Engineer developing appliance products, preferably in infant / juvenile appliance category.
• Must be proficient in the following aspects of engineering design for high volume manufacturing:
  • Designing plastics for Injection Molding, Extrusion and Joining (sonic and solvents)
  • Designing complex moving mechanisms that include gear trains, motors and pumps
  • Experience designing products that have moving fluids and plumbing
  • Integrating electronics with the mechanical design including basic knowledge of how electronic circuits work.
• Excellent communication skills. Speaks and Writes fluently in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
• Superior computer skills with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Basic CAD skills with either Pro/e or Solidworks to view parts, assemblies and cross sections to provide engineering comments to OEM’s.
• Strong project management skills with keen attention to detail.
