Job Description

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Education and Languages:


Language Learning Officer (Chinese Language Advisor) (E&L) (Ref: 25002IQ)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be chiefly required to provide Chinese learning services and activities (Cantonese and Putonghua) to the full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students at HKMU. One of the focuses of the services and activities to be provided will be on enhancing Chinese-speaking and non-Chinese-speaking students’ readiness to use Cantonese and Putonghua in both everyday and academic discourses. In particular, the appointee will be responsible for the following:

  •  organizing and conducting Chinese language activities such as one-to-one consultations, academic and culture workshops and Cantonese/Putonghua short courses;

  •  providing face-to-face and/or online Chinese language teaching and support to students;

  •  designing and developing Chinese teaching materials and assessment exercises;

  •  keeping record of and providing feedback on students’ learning progress; and

  •  performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean of School of Education and Languages / Director of the Language Centre


Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competencies:

  • native Chinese proficiency;

  • a recognized Bachelor’s degree;

  • certification of 2A or above in the National Putonghua Proficiency Test (PSC);

  • ability to work creatively and independently;

  • good communication skills; and

  • proficiency in Microsoft Office.

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates.
