Job Description
The Hong Kong Sports Institute Limited (“HKSI”) is the Government’s delivery agent to provide the high performance training system for eligible sports. The HKSI’s mission is to provide an environment in which sports talent can be identified, nurtured and developed to pursue excellence in the international sporting arena benchmarked at Major Games results. We are now inviting suitable candidates for the following vacancy:
THE JOB
The Hong Kong Sports Institute (“HKSI”) is the government’s designated elite sports training centre. Reporting to the Director, Sports Medicine (DSM), the Associate Director (Sports Medicine) will be responsible for the following duties:
- Supervise directly the day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine Centre, including implementation of strategic goals, provision of leadership and guidance to the staffs in the Sports Medicine Centre, including but not limited to physiotherapists, Chinese manual therapists, sports massage therapists and recovery therapists;
- Lead the development of institutional wide injury prevention and return-to-play rehabilitation protocols, based on evidence-based national and international guidelines to ensure the best practices in sports medicine and athlete care;
- Execute the annual plan, monitor the delivery of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and manage the financial budget in the Sports Medicine Centre;
- Facilitate collaborations between the Sports Medicine Centre, Sport Nutrition Monitoring Centre and Sport Psychology Centre;
- Assist the DSM to prepare the Division’s Annual Plans and financial plans, in addition with progress monitoring and delivery of KPI across the Division;
- Assist the DSM in preparing documentation and reporting to the HKSI Committees and management;
- Maintain strong communication with all stakeholders, including coaching and non-coaching staffs in HKSI;
- Represent the HKSI in relevant medical and sports-related conferences, workshops, and meetings;
- Perform any other administrative or clinical duties as assigned by the DSM.
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Eligible registration as a physiotherapist with the Physiotherapists Board in HKSAR;
- A master's degree in Sports Medicine or related fields. Candidates with a Doctoral degree in the relevant fields is an advantage;
- At least 10 years’ experience with professional sports teams or organisations, preferably with experience leading diverse team in sports medicine or related fields;
- Experience in working with diverse elite athletes, coaches, healthcare professionals and sports related scientists;
- Experience and knowledge in injury prevention and rehabilitation protocols;
- Experience and knowledge in developing, monitoring, managing and reviewing budget and strategic plans;
- Experience in providing medical support for major sports events is an advantage;
- Academic publications and teaching experience in the field of Sports Medicine is an advantage;
- Excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese is essential, Fluency in Putonghua is preferred.
