We are a South African based investment holding company with retail interests in Africa (where it trades in eleven countries), Australia and Poland. The group, established in 1965, manages a portfolio of retail chains focused on the value market and selling predominantly clothing, footwear and textiles. Its main operating subsidiaries are Pep and Ackermans in South Africa and Best & Less in Australia, all based on a high volume/lower margin business model. The group trades from more than 3,100 stores and employs more than 30,000 people.
