Job Description
工作职责
Job Title: Project Engineer Department: Marine Hydrodynamics Research Facility (MHRF), HKUST(GZ) Job Posting Details Formally established in June 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)(HKUST(GZ)) is a cooperatively-run university between the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. HKUST(GZ) has obtained approval from the Ministry of Education (MoE) and become the first legally-independent educational institution co-established by the Mainland and Hong Kong since the announcement and implementation of the “Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and the “Overall Plan for Deepening Globally Oriented Comprehensive Co-operation amongst Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in Nansha of Guangzhou”. With a spirit of pioneering innovation, HKUST(GZ) charts new territories in cross-disciplinary education and explores new frontiers in pedagogies, aiming to serve as a role model of the mainland-Hong Kong integrated educational development and become a world-famous high-level university, endeavoring to nurture future-oriented, high-level and innovative talents. In response to the increasingly complex challenges faced by the rapidly changing world, HKUST(GZ) adopts a brand-new and cross-disciplinary academic structure featuring “Hub” and “Thrust” to substitute the conventional one characterized by “school” and “department”, facilitating cross-disciplinary integration while vigorously developing emerging and frontier disciplines. This is a groundbreaking move in the higher education community across the globe. Hiring Unit Introduction The Marine Hydrodynamics Research Facility is jointly established by The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Aligned with the national maritime power strategy, it focuses on four cutting‑edge directions: intelligent marine equipment, marine clean energy, green coastal engineering, and marine environmental forecasting. The laboratory’s core facilities include high‑precision experimental systems such as a combined deep and shallow water basin, a hydrodynamic flume, a PIV flume and an O‑tube flume, all capable of simulating extreme marine environments. Its goal is to develop into a world‑class marine engineering laboratory, providing essential scientific and technological support for the maritime development of the nation and the Guangdong‑Hong Kong‑Macao Greater Bay Area. Project Introduction Digital Twin Platform for the Marine Hydrodynamics Research Facility (MHRF) Laboratory System This project aims to establish an advanced digital twin system for the Marine Hydrodynamics Research Facility (MHRF) Laboratory System at HKUST(GZ), covering the complete chain of "modeling-observation-simulation-application." It will achieve high-fidelity virtual mapping and intelligent forecasting of multi-scale, multi-physics processes within ocean dynamic systems. The platform will deeply integrate the laboratory's existing large-scale physical modeling facilities, state-of-the-art numerical models, long-term field observation networks, and high-performance heterogeneous computing clusters. It will create a digital mirror of the ocean system capable of real-time synchronization, dynamic prediction, and reverse optimization. The system will primarily support scientific research and engineering validation in key areas such as extreme ocean dynamic processes, coupled responses between marine renewable energy fields and equipment, and the safety of deep-sea engineering systems. By incorporating core technologies such as AI-driven multi-source data assimilation, cloud-edge collaborative simulation, and interactive visualization, the platform will not only serve as a "virtual laboratory" for cutting-edge exploration in marine science and engineering but also strive to provide intelligent digital infrastructure and innovative tools for national marine strategies, deep-sea resource development, and the safety assessment and operational decision-making of major marine-related projects. Duties Key Responsibilities: 1. Project Coordination & Oversight: Serve as the Shared Lead for the Digital Twin Platform project, following MHRF’s priorities and appointment. Support cross-team collaboration and keep the project aligned with strategic goals. Oversee and lead key project components such as technical architecture design, development, system integration, delivery, and operations. Ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. 2. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Serve as the key liaison between ocean scientists, engineers, and software development teams. Accurately translate scientific objectives into actionable technical plans and effectively coordinate cross-functional resources to advance the project. 3. Platform Development & Optimization: Lead the development and integration of the platform’s core modules, including multi-source data fusion, hybrid (physics- and data-driven) modeling, numerical models, high-performance visualization, and cloud-edge collaborative systems. Drive continuous technological advancement of the platform. 4. Quality & Standardization: Establish and uphold the project’s technical standards, development protocols, and quality control processes. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and comprehensive documentation to support long-term scientific research and applications.
任职要求
